How to Connect the Twilio Two-Way Feature to Alpine

In this article, you'll learn how to connect Twilio's two-way messaging feature to Alpine.

How it works

With the Twilio two-way messaging feature, you can send and receive text messages from Constituents on a one-to-one basis. Outbound and inbound messages are both automatically logged in Alpine.

Before you start

  • You’ll need to have a Twilio account
  • The following steps can only be completed by those with Admin permission levels in Alpine.

Setup Process

Before you can begin using Twilio within your Alpine database, you will first need to reach out to our Support Team (support@humanitru.com) so that we can create the Twilio integration in your Humantiru database.

Creating the integration means that the fields (Twilio Account SID, Twilio Auth Token, Twilio Phone Number) to connect Twilio will appear on the Settings page under the Integrations section when logged into your Humantiru database.

Accessing your Twilio account information

There are three fields required to enable the Twilio two-way messaging feature - your Account SID, Auth Token, and Twilio Phone Number

Account SID and Auth Token

Twilio uses two credentials to determine which account an API request is coming from: The Account SID, which acts as a username, and the Auth Token which acts as a password.

To access your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token, follow these steps.

  1. Log in to your Twilio Account

  2. Once logged in you can find the Auth Token in the Account Info pane of the Console Dashboard page.

Twilio Phone Numbers

The third piece of information you will need to enable two-way messaging is your Twilio phone number. From the Console Dashboard page, you can use the drop-down list under My Twilio phone number to select the number you want to use to send outbound messages.

NOTE: You can view all of your pre-bought Twilio phone numbers by clicking View all numbers under your Account Info section.
