Payment Processor FAQ

This article covers some of the most common questions we hear regarding processing payments in Humanitru.

Who does Humanitru partner with?

Customers have the ability to select from one of three payment processor partners including Braintree, Beyond, and Blueswipe.

NOTE:  Humanitru can support any client using Authorize.net as a gateway

Can I use the payment processor that I still have?

If you are not currently using one of the three payment processing partners or a payment processor that uses Authorize.net as a gateway, then you cannot use your existing payment processor.

Are there any benefits from one payment processor over another?

Each payment processor varies in terms of customer support style, setup time, disbursement rate, and fees. In terms of functionality, it's important to note that all of Humanitru's payment processing partners are PCI compliant and offer support for ACH transactions. This means that they meet industry standards for securely handling cardholder data and allow for electronic fund transfers.

If you have questions about which payment processor would be most suitable for your nonprofit organization, we encourage you to contact your Customer Success Manager for further assistance and guidance. They will be able to provide you with additional support and help you make an informed decision.

When can I start accepting payments on my Humanitru platforms?

Once you have completed the setup of your payment processor, you can begin accepting payments on your Humanitru platforms immediately.

How long does setup take?

The amount of time it takes to set up your payment processor will depend on the specific processor you choose. As a general guideline, we estimate that the setup process will take approximately two weeks

What if my organization currently accepts donations through Paypal?

Users have the option to integrate with Paypal using Humanitru's Paypal integration.

What happens to my existing recurring donors?

Once you switch payment processors, we suggest that you personally contact your donors and encourage them to restart their recurring donations by making a donation through your organization's branded Humanitru donation page. This will ensure that their donations begin immediately, instead of waiting until the following month.

Do the payment processors charge a fee?

Yes, each payment processor charges a fee for their services. The fee rates may vary depending on the specific payment processor you choose. It is important to note that these fees are separate from the transaction fees charged by Humanitru.

Is the payment processing fee different from my Humanitru transaction fee?

The payment processing fee is separate from Humanitru's transaction fee. Fees are combined in the donation form to give donors the ability to cover both the payment processing fee and the Humanitru transaction fee.

This means that when donors make a donation through your organization's branded Humanitru donation page, they have the option to include the fees in their donation amount. By allowing donors to cover these fees, it helps to ensure that your organization receives the full intended donation amount without any deductions.

How is my donor financial information protected?

Each of our payment processing partners, Braintree, Beyond, and Blueswipe, are PCI compliant. This means that they adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements to ensure the security of cardholder data. PCI compliance is essential in protecting sensitive financial information and preventing data breaches.

To learn more about the security measures implemented by our payment processing partners, we encourage you to check out our Payment Processing Security FAQ. Here, you will find detailed information about the specific security protocols and practices followed by each partner.

Rest assured that when you choose any of our payment processing partners, you can trust that your donors' financial information is handled securely and in compliance with industry standards. We prioritize the protection of sensitive data and work closely with our partners to ensure a safe and reliable payment processing experience for your organization and donors.

How do I process a refund?

It's important to note that Humanitru does not have access to your donors' sensitive financial data, so the refund process is handled entirely through your payment processor's customer portal. This ensures the security and privacy of your donors' sensitive financial data.

To process a refund, you will need to use your payment processor's customer portal. This means that you will need to log in to your account with the payment processor you are using for your transactions. Once logged in, you will have access to the necessary tools and features to initiate a refund.

The refund process will vary depending on the specific payment processor you are using. However, most payment processors provide a straightforward and user-friendly interface to process refunds. You will typically be able to search for the transaction you wish to refund, select it, and then choose the refund option.
