[NCOA](https://kbhelp.humanitru.com/knowledge/integrations?hsLang=en#ncoa) # National Change of Address (NCOA) Integration ## This article gives an overview of the TrueNCOA integration for your Alpine database ### **Overview** TrueNCOA is a trusted provider of National Change of Address (NCOA) processing services. Their main goal is to assist organizations in keeping their mailing lists up-to-date by identifying individuals who have notified the United States Postal Service (USPS) of a change in their address. TrueNCOA makes available current change of address information that can help reduce undeliverable mail.  ### **Why it matters** Every year approximately forty million Americans move their place of residence and/or business, but their old addresses often remain in mailer’s databases. As a result, mailings continue to go to old addresses and not the new ones. It is estimated that at least 8% of all mail is undeliverable because of incorrect addresses. This means lost opportunities, lost sales, and wasted money. ### **How it works** The TrueNCOA integration is not set to run automatically on a regular basis. To ensure accuracy, a comprehensive scan of your entire Alpine database is necessary, and it cannot be performed on a selective list. **NOTE:** The NCOA scan can take up to a few days to return the updated data. A new scan cannot be done until the previous scan is complete.   A system-generated Campaign called **\[TrueNCOA\] Updates: Date of Scan** will be created with every scan.The scan will return a Note Action with the Constituent's current address and historical address. Constituents with “not deliverable” and “no address on file” will not be included in the NCOA scan. If the NCOA address does not match the address on file, the Constituent will be tagged as **\[System\] Needs Review: Previous Historical Address**, or **\[System\] Needs Review: Mismatched Address** depending on the NCOA search result.
