This article outlines the key concepts of Stewardship Automation in your Alpine Database
Actions
Actions represent a way to classify an entry in Alpine. There are several Action types available in Alpine including Donations, RSVP’s, Membership Payment, Check-In, Volunteer Hours, Email Send, Email Open, Email Click, Phone Call, Text, Meeting, Letter, and Note.
An Action is a specific event that occurs after a Touchpoint has been triggered. For example, if you want to send a personalized letter when a Constituent's total volunteer hours surpass 25 hours, the Action in this case would be a Letter.
Campaigns
Campaigns are a way to label Actions in Alpine. Actions can have as many Campaigns as you apply depending on your needs. For example, a Donation Action may be tagged "Annual Fund" or "Spring Gala", while a Phone Call Made action may be tagged "EOY Appeal" or " Prospecting". By assigning Campaigns to Actions you can use our reporting tools to run reports based on these campaigns. For example, if you're interested in seeing who donates with checks, you can by adding a Campaign called "Check" to all of your check-based Donation actions.
Channels
The channel is how your content will be delivered. There are currently four different channel types including:
- Text/SMS (Twilio): Sends the Constituent a customized text message via Twilio from your organization
- Email (Outlook/Gmail): Queues up a personalized email message to be delivered from your email address.
- Letters (Handwrytten): Triggers a Handwrytten card to be posted and sent in the mail to the Constituent
- Profile Notes: Creates an Alpine Note Action on the matching Constituent profile
Statuses
Touchpoints can exist in one of three states:
- Active: Actively scheduling, and processing/sending Actions
- Dry Run: Scheduling Actions, but not processing/sending
- Paused: No scheduling nor processing/sending
Tags
Tags are used to label your constituency base. Each constituent can have as many Tags as you’d like depending on your needs. For example, a donor may be tagged as a “Major Donor”, while another constituent may be tagged as a “Volunteer”. Use Tags to segment your constituency base. Using tags will allow you to easily report on these segments.
Templates
Templates are pre-designed formats or structures that can be used as a starting point for creating content in Alpine. They provide a convenient way to ensure consistency and efficiency when creating a Touchpoint. Templates can save time and effort by reusing pre-defined formats and structures. This not only ensures consistency in the content you create but also streamlines your workflow. You can easily modify Templates as needed, allowing you to adapt them to different campaigns or specific requirements.
Touchpoints
A Touchpoint is an automated way to engage and steward Constituents. It consists of a Trigger, which initiates the Touchpoint, and an Action, which is an event that a Touchpoint performs after it has been triggered.
Triggers
A trigger is an event that starts a Touchpoint. For example, if you want to sent a text message to a Constituent on the anniversary of their first donation, then the trigger would be "when the first occurrence of donation is after 1 year."
