# How to Search Opportunity Notes

**Overview**

The search box on the Opportunities page looks through each opportunity's Action Notes, along with constituent and pipeline names. Type any word or phrase from the notes to find the opportunities that contain it.

**Step-by-Step Instructions**

1. Navigate to **Opportunities**. Search from **All Opportunities** to look across every pipeline, or open a single pipeline to search only that one.
2. Click the search box at the top of the list.
3. Type the text you're looking for, such as Spring Gala.
4. The list updates to show opportunities whose notes, constituent name or pipeline name contain that text.

**Pro Tips / Common Mistakes**

- **Key Value Pairs make searches more precise.** If your team records details as Label: value lines, such as Opportunity Name: Spring Gala 2027, you can search the whole line to match only that detail. Type it with one space after the colon. They're optional: searching on any word in the notes works too.
- **Search finds partial matches.** West also returns Westchester. Add more of the phrase to narrow the results.
- **Use Advanced Filters for amounts and dates.** To find opportunities by Ask amount, Projected amount or Expected date, use **Advanced Filters** instead of the search box.
