Constant Contact Email Integration: Summary

Humanitru's Constant Contact integration keeps your constituent data and email marketing in sync automatically — so your email lists are always up to date without manual exports or imports.

WHAT IT DOES

The integration runs a nightly sync in both directions: Humanitru pushes your constituent data into Constant Contact, and Constant Contact sends email engagement activity back into Humanitru.

From Humanitru → Constant Contact

• Every constituent in your Humanitru database is pushed to Constant Contact as a Contact, including their name, email address, and any custom fields you've opted to sync as Merge Fields.

• When you use the Create Email Segment button in Humanitru's Constituent Reporting, the resulting list of constituents is pushed directly to a Constant Contact List — making it easy to build targeted email audiences from your CRM data.

• Humanitru Tags can be synced to Constant Contact Tags, so your segmentation in Humanitru is reflected in Constant Contact automatically.

From Constant Contact → Humanitru

• New contacts from Constant Contact are matched to existing constituent records (by email address) or created as new constituents if no match is found.

• Subscription status is synced to each constituent's profile as a Tag, so you can see who is subscribed, unsubscribed, or on hold directly in Humanitru.

• Email engagement activity — emails sent, opens, and link clicks — is recorded on each constituent's profile as Actions, giving you a full picture of engagement history in one place.

MERGE FIELDS

Any custom field in Humanitru can be synced to Constant Contact as a Merge Field for use in email personalization. These fields are labeled with an [Alpine] prefix in Constant Contact (e.g., [Alpine] Membership Level).

⚠️ Note: The Alpine prefix is how these fields appear inside Constant Contact — this is a platform label we can't control from Humanitru's side. Any fields managed this way will be restored automatically on the next nightly sync if accidentally deleted in Constant Contact.

Note: Constant Contact supports up to 25 custom fields per contact, so plan your synced fields accordingly.

SUBSCRIPTION STATUS AND OPT-OUTS

Humanitru respects opt-out status set in Constant Contact and will never override an unsubscribed contact's status. To prevent a constituent from syncing to Constant Contact at all, tag them with [Constant Contact] Permission to Send: Do Not Sync in Humanitru.

SETTING IT UP

The integration is connected from Settings > Integrations in Humanitru. Once connected, you can configure which custom fields sync to Constant Contact and set up any email addresses you'd like to exclude from the sync.
